Book Review – Rugby World Cup Greats

In this book Zandberg Jansen and Gideon Nieman selected players from the past four World Cups who contributed greatly to tournaments already played.

The book gives each player’s rugby and World Cup history and highlights his personal statistics and achievements.

Of the 58 players, Zandberg and Nieman write: To us, greatness in a rugby player lies in the esteem in which he is held by his peers, his opponents and those knowledgeable in the game and in his ability to overcome adversity and swing a game in that vital fraction of a second.

Greats such as Sean Fitzpatrick, David Campese, Serge Blanco, James Small and Joost van der Westhuizen have been chosen.
Jansen is establishing a rugby school academy in the country while Nieman is an Association of Rugby Statisticians and Historians member.
