England are still battling the stomach virus that forced four players out of their starting line-up for the first test with South Africa on Saturday and there are also injury worries.
Wing Iain Balshaw (shin) and prop Nick Wood (pectoral muscle) have been sent home, while flyhalf Wilkinson, flank Andy Hazell, centre Andy Farrell and scrumhalf Peter Richards did not train on Monday.
Prop Matt Stevens, who joined the team on Friday, will come into contention for Saturday’s second and final test.
The team will be announced “as late as practical given the state of illness and injury,” England forwards coach John Wells said on Monday. England lost the first test 58-10.
