South African rugby was in the dock today when the game’s bosses appeared before parliament’s portfolio committee on sport in Cape Town.
This follows reports and allegations that the ANC wants to hijack rugby.
South African Rugby Union president Oregan Hoskins, his management committee as well as the presidents and chief executives of all the provinces have been summoned to parliament.
South African Rugby Union (Saru) managing director, Johan Prinsloo, has confirmed the meeting, but said there was no agenda at this stage.
Issues such as the ANC take-over allegations, the Luke Watson selection debacle and transformation are all expected to be discussed.
