Ackermann becomes oldest Bok

Boy Morkel was 36 years and 258 days when he played against the 1921 All Blacks.

Ackermann will be joined by 34-year-old loosehead prop Os Du Randt, who is a survivor of South Africa’s 1995 World Cup-winning side.

Du Randt returns to the team for the first time since last year’s Tri-Nations series after battling to shake off a leg injury.

Ackermann returned to the Springbok side at the end of 2006 on the tour to England and Ireland after a five-year absence,

He has been recalled for Saturday’s one-off test after coach Jake White decided to field a second-string line-up without 13 of the players who completed a convincing 2-0 series win over England
