Boks for reconditioning (Updated)

Peter Jooste, Springbok convener of selectors, confirmed that the Bok players not involved in the away leg of the Tri Nations would be entering a reconditioning camp in Cape Town.

“They will have one week off – complete rest at home. However, the following week  they will start in Cape Town with conditioning training at the Sports Science Centre,” he said.

The following players will be ‘reconditioned’:

No injury concerns:

Percy Montgomery
Ashwin Willemse
Jaque Fourie
Jean de Villiers
Butch James – His hamstring strain is not serious.
Danie Rossouw
Schalk Burger
Victor Matfield
Bakkies Botha
BJ Botha
Os du Randt.
Frans Steyn

Injured list:

Fourie du Preez (shoulder) – Not 100% yet but on the comeback trail – will be ready in the next week or two.
André Pretorius (buttock) – The big concern for the Boks at the moment.
Gurthrö Steenkamp (knee) – Will decide sometime next week if they have to do a scope on him.
John Smit (hamstring) – Should be ready in two weeks’ time.
