A London-based punter on Saturday bet £90,000 (R1.3m) on the All Blacks to win the Rugby World Cup in France this year.
Robin Hutchison, spokesman for Ladbrokes – the firm that took the bet – said: “This is the biggest sports bet in our shops this year. The customer is either very confident or very brave – but as the odds suggest, we expect the Kiwis to win.”
The punter backed New Zealand at odds of 4/9 and stands to win £40,000 (R570,000) if the All Blacks are victorious.
Last month, an anonymous gambler staked £150,000 over the telephone on the Springboks to win the World Cup. Read the story HERE.
