Tri Nations Stadium Statistics

What effect does the stadium have on the Tri Nations teams’ results? We ran the statistics through the Kakbokometer and received the following information.

Best stadium for SA in NZ: Wellington
This is the only place the Boks have won (13-03 in 1998)

Worst stadium for SA in NZ: Dunedin
The Boks have never won here and have suffered two hidings (28-00 in 1998 and 31-07 in 2005) at the aptly named House Of Pain!

Best stadium for SA in AU: Perth
A home away from home with about half the population being Saffers! The Boks have won 2 and drawn 1 out of 4 Tri Nations games played in Perth

Worst stadium for SA in AU:
Brisbane
The Boks are winless in Brisbane and have suffered regular hidings, with the latest being the 49-00 defeat in 2006. Visiting teams are usually bored to tears by a few days’ stay in Brisbane and just can’t be bothered to pitch up on game day.

Best stadium for NZ in SA: Loftus Versveld
The All Blacks are undefeated in Pretoria and have regularly racked up huge scores

Worst stadium for NZ in SA: Ellis Park
New Zealand have only won here once (a narrow 35-32 victory in 1997)

Best stadium for AU in SA: Durban
Australia’s only Tri Nations victory in South Africa happened at the Shark Tank in 2000 (19-18)

Worst stadium for AU in SA: Loftus Versveld
The Wallabies have never won here and suffered a whipping at the hands of Carel’s Boks in 1997 (61-22)
