HEAD2HEAD – Springboks v Wallabies

We take a look at the match ups between the Boks and the Wallabies for Saturday’s test. 15. Adam Ashley-Cooper v Conrad Jantjes

Honours are pretty much even between these two attacking fullbacks.

OZ 1 : 1 SA

14. Peter Hynes v JP Pietersen

Although JP Pietersen was solid last week against the All Blacks, he lacks the match fitness of the explosive Peter Hynes.

OZ 2 : 1 SA

13. Stirling Mortlock v Frans Steyn

The bullocking Mortlock is the Aussie’s biggest attacking threat, especially playing against the out-of-position Steyn.

OZ 3 : 1 SA

12. Berrick Barnes v Jean de Villiers

De Villiers is currently without peer in the world at inside centre. Hopefully he can have a calming influence on the man outside him.

OZ 3 : 2 SA

11. Lote Tuqiri v Bryan Habana

Look for the Bok speedster to really come into his own on Saturday with a commanding performance.

OZ 3 : 3 SA

10. Matt Giteau v Butch James

Giteau is always a threat and the Boks will have to shut him down on attack. Butch hasn’t been in great form for the last two games, but is making steady improvement.

OZ 4 : 3 SA

09. Luke Burgess v Ricky Januarie

Ricky Januarie has been in the form of his life – hopefully this will continue as he looks to harrass the hell out of the Wallaby halfbacks.

OZ 4 : 4 SA

08. Wycliff Palu v Pierre Spies

The big Blue Bull must get into the game early with some trademark strong runs and heavy hitting. Watch out for the 50-50 passes though!

OZ 4 : 5 SA

07. George Smith v Juan Smith

An almighty clash on the cards – Battle of the Smiths. Juan has been SOLID over the last two weeks – on Saturday we expect SPECTACULAR!

OZ 5 : 6 SA

06. Rocky Elsom v Schalk Burger

South Africa’s most influencial player will once again throw himself around the park with no concern for his own welfare while also being involved in EVERY tackle.

OZ 5 : 7 SA

05. Nathan Sharpe v Victor Matfield

The Best Lock Forward In World Rugby ™ will look to give his team the ascendency in the lineouts again. Watch how the Boks use the ELVs to great effect with short lineouts the order of the day.

OZ 5 : 8 SA

04. James Horwill v Bakkies Botha

The Enforcer will once again strike the fear of god into the hearts of the poor Ockers.

OZ 5 : 9 SA

03. Al Baxter v CJ van der Linde

Look for CJ to dominate, coming off a magnificent performance in the scrums and the loose last week.

OZ 5 : 10 SA

02. Stephen Moore v Schalk Brits

Brits’ lineout throwing will be critical to the Boks. Hopefully he can hold up under the pressure – luckily he’s not throwing in to a bunch of muppets.

OZ 6 : 10 SA

01. Benn Robinson v Gurthro Steenkamp

Matters are fairly even at the business end of the scrum.

OZ 7 : 11 SAThere you have it – based purely on a head to head comparison, the Boks hold the advantage.
