Awesome Event… which despite the terrible weather conditions again, ran like clock-work. Between 800-900 people were at Villagers on Friday supporting in the rain and heavy winds.
The results were as follows:
TROPHY
Wynberg won (first time in 14 years they have won the tournament and now they have won it 5 times in 40 years).
In Round 1 they played Reddam and won 41-0. Round 2 they beat Pinelands 37-0 and in the Quarter Finals they played Muizenberg and Won 42-0.
In the Semi-Finals they beat Drakenstein (a diamond in the rough team who played some fantastic rugby – first time at the tournament) and Won 10-7.
In the electrifying Final they met SACS (the 2007 Winners) and won 22-19. What a final!
PLATE
The Plate competition was won by Zwaanswyk (first time they have won it). In Round 2 they had a walk over because Spine Road didn’t pitch up.
In the Quarters they played Temperance and won 19-0. In the Semi’s they beat Violets 10-0 and in the Final they played another fantastic team, DF Malan, and in another knife-edge match, won 17-12.
All in all a very successful day, enjoyed by all.
Awards and prizes were handed out by former South African cricketing legend Brian MacMillan.
