Serves: 6
Cooking Time: ½ hour
Ingredients
500 ml water
2 ml salt
375 ml mealie meal
5 ml butter
Method
Bring water and salt to the boil.
Add mealie meal and leave in potjie without stirring.
With a wooden spoon, use a cutting and not a stirring motion to mix mealie meal with the water.
Cover with lid and allow to simmer for 20 minutes or until pap is cooked.
Stir at short intervals to prevent pap from scorching and to give it a light texture.
Stir in butter and serve with any potjiekos with a lot of gravy.
