Springbok player ratings v Australia.

The Boks were hammered for the third week in a row. This time by the Wallabies. We rate the players.

15 Zane Kirchner:
As Ashwin Willemse said, “The fullback must work in pendulum with his wings”.
2/10

14 Gio Aplon:
Had few attacking chances, but looked a hell of a lot better than JDV.
3/10

13 Jaque Fourie:
Stupidly yellow-carded in the 3rd minute. Say no more.
0/10

12 Wynand Oliver:
Looks like a deer caught in headlights at international level. Surely he has played his last test.
2/10

11 Bryan Habana:
A completely spent force – poor hands, poor defence, selfishness and too many attempted intercepts.
2/10

10 Morné Steyn:
Seems like he can only play with Fourie Du Preez on his inside. Did nothing.
2/10

9 Ruan Pienaar:
Good passing but so many poor, aimless kicks. Pathetic goal-kicking yet again. Still better than McJanuarie though.
3/10

8 Pierre Spies:
Such a pity that international rugby is not played in the gym. Was he even on the field? Disappeared once again.
1/10

7 Ryan Kankowski:
Set up for failure by Gary Gold but tried his best nonetheless.
3/10

6 Schalk Burger:
Headless chicken stuff. Does not have a coach that can give him direction.
2/10

5 Victor Matfield:
Smashed in the tackle, poor in the lineouts. Running on empty.
2/10

4 Danie Rossouw:
Knocked on, missed tackles etc.
1/10

3 BJ Botha:
Yellow carded.
0/10

2 John Smit:
Woefully off the pace. Struggling to fit back in at hooker. Not controlling the referee. Not throwing in accurately. Bismarck moet nou ophou pomp by die dam en terugkom.
2/10

1 Gurthrö Steenkamp:
Scrummed ok, missed tackles, scored a try.
3/10

Coaches:

Peter de Villiers:
The Bok head coach did his team no favours by mouthing off in the media about referees and conspiracy theories. Clear now that last year’s results were all due to the players taking charge. Strange that coaches have been fired for talking about ticket prices, while he remains untouchable.
0/10

Gary Gold:
The Bok forwards coach thinks John Smit is a prop, Ryan Kankowski is a flank and Pierre Spies is an international quality 8th man. Rugby IQ?
0/10

Dick Muir:
The Bok backline coach lead the Lions to the worst ever performance in Super Rugby history while coaching them part-time. Imagine if he’d been full-time.
