JJ Harmse of Rapport has reported that Heyneke Meyer and SARU CEO Jurie Roux met on Saturday to finalise his contract to be the new Springbok coach.
Rapport’s information is that Meyer, the current Bulls director of rugby, has come to an agreement with his employers to be released from his contract. SARU will, however, have to pay substantial compensation to the Bulls to secure Meyer’s release.
The official announcement of the Springbok coach will be made on Friday 27 January.
Meyer was set to be appointed Bok coach four years ago before a group led by Cheeky Watson and Jannie Ferreira persuaded the presidents to vote for Peter de Villiers.
