View the positives and negatives of the 2012 season:

Positive

– Emergence of Eben Etzebeth, Marcelle Coetzee, Duane Vermeulen, Francois Louw, Johan Goosen, Patrick Lambie
– Bryan Habana and JP Pietersen’s return to form
– The lineouts
– The defence
– Not bad considering departures and injuries
– Ending the season ranked 2nd – good for RWC draw
– Undefeated end of year tour

Negative

– Failure of Francois Hougaard, Jacques Potgieter and Dean Greyling
– First ever draw with Argentina
– 58% is a poor first year win ratio
– Completely outplayed by New Zealand at home
– Loss to a poor Wallabies outfit
– Third place in the inaugural Rugby Championship
– The lack of attack
– The kicking (place kicking and out of hand)
– The backline play
– The gameplan (outdated skop-en-jag/stampkar) and not achieving the main goal of the gameplan – to get points when in the opposition’s 22m
– The lack of entertainment value in watching the Boks
– The support staff especially kicking coach Louis Koen (transforming on-fire kickers into useless kickers), and backline coach Ricardo Loubscher
– Lack of transformation
– Meyer’s blind persistence with Morne Steyn and to a lesser extent Pierre Spies
– Meyer only acknowledging the role of a fetcher later on
