The 2025 rugby season promises to be an exciting one for Springbok fans, with a series of high-profile matches both at home and abroad. Here’s a comprehensive look at the fixtures awaiting South Africa’s national rugby team:

Note: Home venues have not yet been finalised by SA Rugby.

July: Incoming Series

05 July: South Africa vs. Italy
12 July: South Africa vs. Italy
19 July: South Africa vs. Georgia

The season kicks off with the Springboks hosting Italy for two consecutive weekends, marking the Azzurri’s first visit to South African soil since 2013. Following these encounters, the Boks will face Georgia, providing a platform to strengthen ties and offer the Lelos valuable experience against top-tier competition.

August: The Rugby Championship Begins

16 August: South Africa vs. Australia
23 August: South Africa vs. Australia

In a unique scheduling move, the Springboks will host the Wallabies for back-to-back matches. This consecutive face-off offers both teams an intense opportunity to gauge strategies and performance levels early in the Championship.

September: Away Challenges

6 September: New Zealand vs. South Africa (Auckland)
13 September: New Zealand vs. South Africa (Wellington)

The rivalry intensifies as the Springboks travel to New Zealand for two consecutive Tests against the All Blacks. These matches are anticipated to be among the most challenging of the season, given the storied history and competitive spirit between the two rugby powerhouses. The All Blacks will put their 50-Test unbeaten record at Eden Park on the line when they host the World Cup-winning Springboks.

September/October: Concluding the Rugby Championship

27 September: South Africa vs. Argentina
4 October: Argentina vs. South Africa (Twickenham)

The Rugby Championship concludes with a home-and-away series against Argentina. The Pumas have consistently showcased their growth and competitiveness on the international stage, ensuring these fixtures will be both entertaining and demanding.

November: European Tour (fixtures and dates not yet confirmed)

1 November: Wales vs. South Africa (Cardiff)
8 November: France vs. South Africa (Paris)
15 November: Italy vs. South Africa (TBC)
22 November: Ireland vs. South Africa (Dublin)

South Africa will then head north in November, and kick off their tour against Wales in Cardiff going up against Warren Gatland’s charges for the third time in 24 months.

That will be followed by the confirmed Test match against France, the first meeting between the two nations since the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals in 2023.

On November 15, South Africa are set to face Italy for the third time in 2024, before completing 2025 with a clash against Ireland.

The Springboks and Ireland shared the spoils of the two-Test series in July in 2024 and the clash at the Aviva Stadium will almost surely be viewed as a belated series decider.
