16: Offside NZ – penalty SA just inside their half, Pienaar steps up to kick for posts! Shocking kick misses far to the left.

18: So far the ABs have showed some poor handling, SA appear to have a running attacking strategy with minimal kicks so far apart from the usual box kicks by Pienaar. NZ defensive scrum, Pienaar goes blind, to Pietersen, penalised for not releasing the ball, ABs clear.

HALF TIME
South Africa have surprised the All Blacks by opting for a running game which is not going too badly apart from a few mistakes by Hougaard. Dan Carter not having a great game again. SA are turning over lineout ball and being massacred in the scrums. But the defensive team effort has been huge. All Blacks are guilty of poor finishing and some handling errors -seemingly being forced into them by good Bok pressure. Boks attacking rucks not been too impressive, losing six in good positions. Overall, though, a good containing job by the Springboks.

40: Boks knock on from the kickoff and turn the ball over, ABs attack strongly, Toeava 5m out but doesn’t pass and the ABs miss a big chance, Boks turn it over and kick out, AB lineout, McAlister breaks through the Bok line again, Howlett bundled into touch, defensive lineout for Boks, Hougaard clears to the 10m line.

43 :SA take it and Pienaar kicks out on AB 22m, ABs win it, Weepu directly into touch, Bok lineout and they swing it wide, ruck on AB 22m, Mealamu penalised for coming in from the side. Hougaard lines up the easy penalty…and scores!

46: Paulse gathers from the 22, Bok lineout on AB 10m line, stolen by Robinson, Carter kicks the garryowen, Boks get it back, grubber from Olivier, ABs gather and attack, Howlett grubbers and Pienaar gathers and kicks for safety on the half way line.

49: ABs attack strongly, stretching the Bok defense, attacking on Bok 22m, Carter kicks for the corner and Toeava gathers but bundled into touch by Paulse, Bok defensive lineout on their 22m, Pienaar misses touch and ABs attack again, up to Bok 22m, So’oialo breaks through, Pedrie Wannenburg yellow carded for playing the ball on the ground at the subsequent ruck. Boks down to 14 men. Carter kicks the penalty over. Leonard on for Weepu.

54: ABs take the attack up to the Bok 10m and then Thorne knocks on. Scrum Boks. Peter Grant on for Hougaard. Cronje breaks off the back again, and Grant clears. to Bok 10m line, Abs swing it wide, 10m out from the Bok 22m, stretching the defense, Thorne breaks through, McCaw goes blind side, pick and drives from ABs, swing it wide again, Howlett stepping, Boks turn it over, Howlett penalised for holding on, but the penalty is reversed – vd Berg stamping. Penalty kick for Carter right in front of posts and nails it. Stupid stupid error from vd Berg.

58: McCaw penalised for holding on, half way line – Pienaar steps up…and it’s another shocking kick, Rococoko kicks back, Bok ruck on half way, swing it wide, Pienaar kicks in behind ABs and they attack, Boks get possession back, Pienaar kicks over dead ball line. Collins replaces Robinson.

64: Bok lineout on their 10m line, Olivier kicks it straight down Rococoko’s throat and ABs attack, Muliaina knocks on – luckily for the Boks, Bok defensive scrum, Cronje controls off the back as the ABs swing the scrum, Grant clears on half way. Botha replaces du Plessis, Britz comes on for vd Berg.

68: Howlett steps and flips to Rococoko who breaks through and pops the sneaky pass behind his back to Leonard who runs in under the posts. Try New Zealand – Carter converts.

72: ABs attack again, Muliani kicks and chances but the bounce is too high, Pienaar gathers and clears. AB lineout. Evens for Howlett, Hoare for Mealamu.

76: ABs hammering away on Bok 22m, Hoare drives strongly, Masoe, 9th phase, out wide to Nick Evans who crashes over in the corner as the Bok defense leaves Paulse with a 4 on 1 situation. Carter lines up the conversion…and nails it.

77: It’s been all ABs in the second half, running everything and stretching the Bok defense, turnover Boks, Olivier kick and chase up the left hand touchline, Carter gets back to kick it into touch 1m out from the AB line. Attacking lineout Boks who win it then knock it on. Scrum ABs – penalty to NZ and Carter kicks out.

80: ABs have possession, running from their own 22m, Leonard up the middle, Carter to Rococoko, Collins to Thorne, Smith to Evans – on Bok 22m – loose ball, gathered by Carter who runs in for the try under the posts. He converts and the game is over.

FULL TIME: Boks 06 – 33 All Blacks.
The Boks were in it for 68 minutes, but the relentless pressure from the All Blacks showed in the last 10 minutes. The ABs take the Freedom Cup. For the ABs, Carter’s form remained average. New Zealand attacked strongly in the closing stages with good support play for their runners, Boks ran out of steam again after a huge defensive effort to initially limit the All Blacks’ chances.
