Pat Wilson of the ARU and Tony Dempsey of the Australian Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA), announced a cash incentive scheme for Wallaby players at the Rugby World Cup.
“The discussions were amicable and productive,” said Wilson.
“I think we have found the right formula for rewarding the Wallaby players who’ll represent us in the Rugby World Cup.
“It correctly acknowledges the players’ dedication and commitment.”
Dempsey added: “The winning bonus is designed to reward team achievement if they progress through to the business end of the RWC tournament.
“The players’ are comfortable the bonus scheme is reasonable and fair having regard to all the circumstances.”
The bonus scheme provides:
– A$10,000 (R60,000) per player for reaching a semi-final
– A$42,250 (R256,000) per player for winning the semi-final
– A$84,750 (R512,000) per player for winning the RWC Final
