- Ruan Pienaar starts at flyhalf
- Butch James plays at inside centre
- JP Pietersen is at fullback
- Jean de Villiers has been left at home to recover from the rib injury suffered against Namibia
- Waylon Murray has been named on the bench
- Wikus van Heerden (recovered from a knee infection) and Danie Rossouw (recovered from a hamstring strain) are the starting loose forwards
- Gurthro Steenkamp makes an appearance at loosehead prop
- Bismarck du Plessis is preferred to Gary Botha in the starting XV
– Waylon Murray starts at centre with Jaque Fourie on the bench in order to reduce the likelyhood of injury to Fourie
